Visakhapatnam’s ‘Lovers’ Tree’ Blooms on Valentine’s Day

The Clusia rosea tree at RCD Biodiversity Park in Visakhapatnam becomes a romantic symbol as couples inscribe love messages on its leaves.

Visakhapatnam: The Clusia rosea tree in the heart of Rani Chandramani Devi (RCD) Government Hospital Biodiversity Park at Peda Waltair, Visakhapatnam, dubbed the Lovers' Tree, is in full bloom on the occasion of Valentine's Day, 2025.

As Valentine's Day approaches, the RCD biodiversity park becomes a gathering place for many couples, who particularly come to write their names on the leaves of the Clusia rosea tree.
Significantly, the tree’s thin upper leaf tissue takes writing on it. The unique ability of Clusia rosea’s leaves to hold messages of love even after drying has earned it the endearing title of “Autograph Tree,” points out Dr. Ramamurthy, the founder of the Biodiversity Park.
With its lush thick leaves, this remarkable tropical tree has become a canvas for couples to express their enduring commitment. Even as the leaves age and fall, the names remain vibrant, providing a beautiful reminder of their love. Many also carve their names on the tree in a way that stands the test of time.
The Lover’s Tree on Valentine’s Day stands as a heartfelt testament to love, offering a serene space for those wishing to celebrate and commemorate their deep feelings.
