Visakhapatnam Railway Station Gets 220 Digital LED Screens

The long-term contract is expected to provide stable revenue for the division.

Visakhapatnam: The Waltair Division of East Coast Railway has installed 220 digital LED display screens at Visakhapatnam Railway Station, enhancing real-time communication for passengers. Divisional railway manager Lalit Bohra inaugurated the system on Wednesday.

Installed under a commercial advertisement contract valid until 2030, the screens cover around 2,000 sq. ft across station premises and pillars. The long-term contract is expected to provide stable revenue for the division.

The displays operate on a 50:50 time-sharing system, with equal screen time allotted to railway information and commercial advertisements. Officials said this ensures uninterrupted dissemination of essential passenger updates.

Bohra noted that railway alerts, operational updates and emergency messages will take priority, especially during major events such as cyclones, accidents or civil disturbances. He added that the digital network will significantly strengthen crowd management and passenger safety, as the screens can be instantly repurposed to broadcast critical information during emergencies.
