Violence in Guntur Over Ambati Remarks Against Chief Minister
Police rushed additional forces to the area and imposed heavy bandobast to prevent escalation. Senior officers later dispersed the protesters.

Vijayawada:Tension prevailed in Guntur on Saturday after Telugu Desam activists allegedly attacked the residence-cum-office of former minister and YSR Congress leader Ambati Rambabu following controversial remarks attributed to him against Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
The incident occurred at Navabharat Nagar, where a group of TD activists, led by Guntur West MLA Galla Madhavi, staged a protest demanding an unconditional apology from Rambabu. The protest turned violent, with some activists pelting stones, damaging a parked car and attempting to force open doors. Glass panes of the office were broken, triggering panic in the locality.
Police rushed additional forces to the area and imposed heavy bandobast to prevent escalation. Senior officers later dispersed the protesters.
Earlier in the day, Rambabu was reportedly confronted by TD leaders and cadres at Gorantla while he was on his way to perform a puja related to the Tirumala laddu ghee issue. During the confrontation, Rambabu allegedly used abusive language against TD leaders, the Chief Minister and minister Nara Lokesh, which further angered party workers.
Guntur district TD president Pilli Manikya Rao lodged a complaint with the district Superintendent of Police, seeking action against Rambabu. Police sources confirmed that a case had been registered and further action was under consideration.
As YSRC supporters began gathering near Rambabu’s residence later in the night, police tightened security to prevent clashes.
Responding to the allegations, Rambabu denied directly abusing the Chief Minister and said he reacted in anger after his vehicle was allegedly attacked. He admitted that his language was inappropriate but said he was prepared to face legal consequences.
The YSRC condemned the attack, accusing the ruling Telugu Desam of intimidation. Senior leaders, including Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, Botsa Satyanarayana, Perni Nani and G. Srikant Reddy, alleged that the violence was aimed at diverting attention from the Tirumala laddu ghee controversy.
