Villagers expressed confidence that the tradition would once again bring showers and hoped for a bountiful monsoon this year.

Anantapur: India is home to many unique traditions, and several communities continue to follow age-old customs in the hope of bringing good fortune. One such tradition is conducting a wedding for donkeys to pray for rainfall.
Villagers in Kurlapalli of Kalyandurg mandal in Anantapur district recently conducted a traditional wedding for two donkeys, seeking good rains for the region.
The donkeys were taken in a procession through the village amid drumbeats. Following the wedding ceremony, villagers poured water over the pair and offered special prayers for abundant rainfall.
The villagers said they had performed a similar ritual in the past, after which the area received good rains. Villagers expressed confidence that the tradition would once again bring showers and hoped for a bountiful monsoon this year.
