Villager Who Raised Issue For Bridge In Nellore Invited For Its Inauguration
Chalapathi told her that villagers had been seeking a bridge at the spot for decades: Reports

TIRUPATI: A villager, who questioned the MLA’s family during 2024 assembly elections whether the long-pending bridge across the Pottapalem Kaluju spillway of Nellore Tank, would ever become a reality, has now been invited to inaugurate that very bridge as a special guest.
Villager Chalapathi had raised the issue of bridge with Sai Vaishnavi, daughter of Nellore Rural MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy, when she had been campaigning for her father at Pottapalem during the assembly elections.
Chalapathi told her that villagers had been seeking a bridge at the spot for decades. He asked Vaishnavi whether her father, who had by then already served two terms as MLA, would get the project completed.
Vaishnavi assured him that the bridge would be built if her father is elected again. With Sridhar Reddy becoming the MLA, Vaishnavi took up the bridge issue with Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu and Minister Nara Lokesh, who assured their support for the project.
The bridge across Pottapalem Kaluju spillway has now been completed and scheduled for inauguration on Saturday. The route is an important link for people travelling between Nellore and several parts of the district, particularly when water flows over the spillway during the monsoon.
With the work completed, Vaishnavi personally met Chalapathi on Friday and invited him to inaugurate the bridge as a special guest.
According to MLA Sridhar Reddy, the bridge has been built at a cost of ₹6.54 crore after the government sanctioned funds for the project. The bridge will benefit commuters from Nellore Rural as well as the neighbouring Kovur, Atmakur, Sarvepalli, and Udayagiri constituencies.
