Vijayawada:B. Prasantha Kumar, senior divisional commercial manager (Sr. DCM), said the business development unit of Vijayawada division continues to play a pivotal role in driving sustainable growth, improving services, and maximising revenue potential, with stakeholder collaboration at its core. The commercial department of Vijayawada division, South Central Railway, organised a business development meet under the leadership of Prasantha Kumar at Vijayawada on Thursday. Prasantha Kumar encouraged the participants to collaborate actively with the Railways, bring fresh ideas to the table, and work jointly to unlock new business opportunities. The merchants, representing diverse business sectors, participated in the programme. The event focused on goods traffic, parcel services, parcel cargo express trains (PCETs), non-fare revenue (NFR) Initiatives, and battery-operated car (BOC) operations. Merchants raised key operational concerns, particularly regarding battery-operated car services, and also requested the addition of more parcel services to cater to the rising demand.
Responding to the concerns, Prasantha Kumar assured, “We are committed to addressing every operational issue raised today at the earliest. The division values its merchants as true partners in growth, and together we will expand parcel services, improve logistics, and ensure mutual prosperity,”.
Free training in cybersecurity, networking skills
Vijayawada:The Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation, in collaboration with CISCO Networking Academy, announced a free faculty development programme on cybersecurity and networking essentials. Raghu Kuram, executive director of APSSDC, said the programme is designed to enhance the teaching and research capabilities of faculty members in computer science and electronics disciplines by equipping them with advanced, industry-relevant knowledge in cybersecurity and networking.
Raghu explained that the programme schedule for the first batch is from September 8 to 12 at VVIT, Namburu, in Guntur, and for the second batch is from September 15 to 19 at Andhra University in Visakhapatnam. He further explained that each batch will run for five days, with sessions from 9 am to 5 pm, with a lunch facility.Raghu stated that participants will receive joint certification from CISCO and APSSDC, and industry experts will lead sessions. Top firms join job mela at Thullur today
Vijayawada:Under the aegis of the Andhra Pradesh skill development and training department and with the support of APCRDA, a job mela will be organised from 10 am onwards at the NAC–CRDA Skill Hub center, Thullur, on Friday. The APCRDA officials said the selected candidates through this fair will be provided with employment opportunities in and around Amaravati. Leading companies such as Sense Semiconductor & IT Solutions Pvt. Ltd., BSR Infratech India Ltd., SBI Life Insurance Co. Ltd., Bhavya Health Services Pvt. Ltd., and Santosh Automotors Pvt. Ltd. will be participating in the fair. Vacancies are available for engineers, development managers, financial advisors (part-time), regional managers, district managers, operations executives, emergency medical technicians, drivers, marketing executives, and team leaders. Water released from MMD, downstream residents alerted
Karimnagar:With continuous rains and heavy inflows from upstream, irrigation officials on Thursday lifted 17 of the 25 floodgates of the Mid Manair Dam (MMD) in Rajanna Sircilla district, to release the floodwater into the Lower Manair Dam (LMD) in Rajanna Sircilla district.
The current water level in the MMD was at +315.41 metres, holding 21.334 tmcft, with an inflow of 75,375 cusecs and outflow of 57,042 cusecs. At LMD, the water storage stands at 16.68 tmcft against its FRL of 27.55 tmcft and its spillway gates are expected to be opened on Friday.
LMD superintending engineer P. Ramesh cautioned residents downstream, including shepherds, fishermen and farmers, not to venture into the Manair river. The advisory will remain in effect through the flood season, expected till October-end.
DGP lauds Nellore police for tracing missing persons
Nellore:Andhra Pradesh DGP Harish Kumar Gupta conducted a review meeting with police officials at the mini conference hall during his visit to SPS Nellore district on Thursday. Accompanied by Guntur range IG Sarva Shreshta Tripathi and district SP G. Krishnakanth, the DGP reviewed the district’s law-and-order situation, including details of police stations, pending cases, crime trends over the past three years, and welfare measures for the force.
The DGP appreciated Nellore police for their efficiency in resolving Lok Adalat cases and tracing missing persons, ranking first in the state. He instructed officials to strengthen public trust, ensure safety and security, and take a tough stance against lawbreakers, including the seizure of property where necessary. He directed police to focus on missing cases, bodily offenses, murders, suspicious deaths, and attempts to murder, while forming special teams to crack robberies and thefts. The DGP emphasised securing convictions in heinous crimes, intensifying surveillance on NDPS offenders, and cracking down on ganja peddlers and users through Eagle teams, along with counseling addicts in the presence of parents. Other key instructions, including enhancing road safety enforcement, strengthening the cyber cell, providing advanced training to officers, and using modern technology in investigations, were given to the authorities. The meeting was attended by an additional SP (admin) Ch. Soujanya, DSPs of SB, town, rural, Kavali, Atmakur, Kandukuru, and AR, along with CIs and other senior police officials.
Advance notice on power cuts for industries a must: Collector
Nellore:District collector O. Anand ordered the electricity department to provide advance intimation to industries before imposing power cuts in industrial estates and parks to prevent production losses.
At the District Industries and Export Promotion Committee meeting held at the collectorate on Thursday, the collector reviewed industrial development initiatives led by the district industries department. Of the 2,723 applications received through the single-desk portal, 2,432 were approved, 21 were rejected and 270 remain pending. He instructed departments like the Pollution Control Board and Legal Metrology to speed up clearances.
On employment generation, Anand said 13,599 jobs were created through mega projects and 5,557 jobs through large industries in Nellore. He stressed the need to scale up the World Bank-supported RAMP programme and conduct workshops to encourage entrepreneurship.
The collector also reviewed the progress of companies including Indosal Pvt. Ltd., Jasan Infra, Utkarsh Aluminium, Kribco Green Energy, SRC Ecotex, and Vishwasamudra Bio Energy and asked the officials to ensure their smooth establishment.
Under Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) scheme, 124 projects were grounded by the district industries department, while 42 were launched through the Khadi and Village Industries Board. Anand urged officials to expedite PMEGP implementation and ensure industries receive all required incentives and facilities.
