Kurnool: Police visited former MP Gorantla Madhav’s residence in Anantapur on Thursday and served him a notice to appear before the Cyber Crime Police on the 5th of next month for questioning. A case was registered against him under Sections 72 and 79 of the BNS based on a complaint filed in November 2024 by former chairperson of the AP Women’s Commission, Vasireddy Padma. She alleged that, as a former police officer, he disclosed the names of victims, including minors, in a POCSO case.

Meanwhile, Gorantla Madhav claimed that Andhra Pradesh is heading towards a "civil war" and accused the government of filing false cases to harass opposition leaders. He alleged that freedom of expression no longer exists in the state. Confirming that he had received the notice from Vijayawada police, he stated that he would cooperate with the investigation after consulting legal experts. He also said he would request a change in the investigation date.
