Vijayawada: RTC Bus Crushes Pedestrian To Death At Pandit Nehru Bus Station

In a tragic accident at the Pandit Nehru bus station in Vijayawada, a pedestrian died after being hit by an RTC bus on Wednesday. Police is investigating if the accident occurred due to the driver's negligence.

The driver of the bus knocked off the passenger at a high speed, even in the presence of several passengers on the premises. Despite the presence of a speed breaker, the driver drove the vehicle in a rash manner and under the impact, Bulu Sahoo, 42, died on the spot. Sahu belonged to Govindnagar in Odisha state.

On Wednesday, Sahoo was heading towards the city bus terminal located at the back of the station in the terminal. While he was walking, suddenly an RTC bus hired by the Avanigadda depot, hit him from behind and he went under the wheels. The other passengers in the terminal were shocked witnessing the accident.

Vijayawada police contacted the Gangam police to pass on the information and details. Driver Puli Lakshmi Varaprasad, responsible for the accident, was taken into custody and booked. The entire episode got recorded in the CCTV cameras installed in the terminal.

The passengers on the premises felt that drivers should not drive the vehicles at a speed like on national highways, while on the premises of a bus station.
