Vijayawada MP Meets Gadkari For Developing City Roads

The MP put forth before Gadkari the problems and defects of the main roads in Vijayawada, as well as the safety of people.

Vijayawada: Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath alias Chinni met union Roads, Transport and National Highways minister Nitin Gadkari at the latter’s office in Parliament on Wednesday. The MP put forth before Gadkari the problems and defects of the main roads in Vijayawada, as well as the safety of people. The MP requested the union minister to take appropriate steps to improve the National Highway 65 between Vijayawada and Hyderabad. He emphasised on expansion of the 33-kilometre-long route from Vijayawada western bypass to Bhavanipuram Punnami Ghat into six lanes. In addition, Sivanath sought service roads on both sides of the Vijayawada West Bypass Road from Peddavutupally to Gollapudi. He pointed out that the bypass connects Vijayawada’s rural areas to the city and the capital Amaravati. People often use agricultural vehicles like tractors and bullock carts to move between the city and its suburbs and beyond. He said this is the reason why service roads are imperative for the safety of people.

The MP sought funds for a 5.5-kilometre four-lane road from Gollapudi Junction to Jakkampudi village He pointed out that this road will connect Machilipatnam-Hyderabad National Highway (NH-65), Nagpur-Vijayawada Greenfield Highway (NH-163G), Chennai-Kolkata National Highway (NH-16), Vijayawada Inner Ring Road and Jakkampudi Economic City Road. Sivanath wanted construction of subways in Vijayawada city, so that people from St. Ann's Hospital area could reach MG Road directly. He underlined that if these subways are completed, they will be of great benefit to people and reduce accidents.

Sources said union minister Gadkari responded positively to MP Kesineni's requests. AP Health minister Satya Kumar Yadav too met Nitin Gadkari seeking expansion of roads, laying of new roads and several other developmental works in Sri Satya Sai district. He also called on Railways minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and sought the latter’s help for setting up a semiconductor industry in AP.
