Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu Pushes Port, Hardware and Green-Energy Ecosystems as SIPB Clears ₹22,178 Crore Projects
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu directed officials to give every approved project a six-month timeline and ensure that work commenced within the stipulated period.
Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials to build a comprehensive port-led industrial and logistics ecosystem along Andhra Pradesh’s coastline while fast-tracking 28 investment proposals cleared by the State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB).
These involve a total investment of `22,177.84 crore and employment potential for 19,739 persons.
Chairing the 21st SIPB meeting at the Secretariat on Thursday, Naidu said the projects should swiftly move from approval to production stage.
He directed officials to give every approved project a six-month timeline and ensure that work commenced within the stipulated period.
The Chief Minister called for commercial utilization of land available around ports and an integrated plan covering logistics, shipbuilding, warehouses, manufacturing and ancillary industries.
Fishing harbors should also be developed, while shipbuilding must be expanded beyond cargo vessels to cater to defense and tourism requirements.
Naidu stressed that ports should be connected with railways, roads, air cargo and inland waterways to turn Andhra Pradesh into a major logistics hub.
Tirupati district, supported by Sri City, has secured the 10th position nationally in district-wise exports, while East Godavari is ranked 12th, he said and asked officials to work towards making East Godavari one of the country’s top five districts.
The Chief Minister also set his sights on making Andhra Pradesh a leading hardware manufacturing destination, asking officials to attract investments in semiconductors, chip manufacturing and robotics.
Electronics hubs at Kopparthy, Tirupati and Lepakshi should be equipped with the required infrastructure and facilities.
The state, he said, must move beyond assembly and manufacturing to create complete ecosystems encompassing research, design and manufacturing.
A similar approach should be adopted for solar-panel manufacturing, with ancillary industries, technology, skills and infrastructure developed alongside core units.
The CM directed officials to accelerate work on the establishment of research and manufacturing institutions in quantum technology and high-performance computing.
Cluster industries around drone and space cities should be linked with allied sectors.
Talks with Taiwan: IT minister Nara Lokesh said discussions were under way with Taiwan to develop an electronics and hardware manufacturing ecosystem in the state.
Skill development was another key focus. Naidu called for skill mapping from Class 10 onwards and integration of programmes with PM-SETU.
He asked officials to expand industry-oriented training, citing the Adani Skill Development Centre in Visakhapatnam, which also offers civil aviation-related training.
Lokesh stressed the need for specialised skills in materials research and stronger research and technological capabilities for future manufacturing.
Officials said several cement companies had come forward to establish a Cement Centre of Excellence.
The Chief Minister sought an action plan to promote women entrepreneurs, particularly in agri-based industries and food processing, and advocated the “One Family–One Entrepreneur” approach to expand MSMEs.
He also directed officials to explore opportunities in rare-earth mineral processing, value addition, research and manufacturing, besides expanding solar and wind power and adopting pumped-storage and battery-storage solutions.
The meeting was informed that investments had been secured for 113.75gw of the state’s targeted 160gw green-energy capacity and permissions granted for 511 charging stations.
Naidu sought a net-zero plan for TTD, including electric buses and charging infrastructure.
Partnership summit: With the Partnership Summit in Visakhapatnam just 50 days away, Naidu directed officials to ground earlier agreements by then and establish escrow arrangements for investor incentives.
He also called for large-scale hotel development and participation of reputed international hospitality brands.
A Hydrogen Valley Conference is scheduled at SRM University on December 17 and 18.
The 21 SIPB meetings so far have approved 387 projects involving a potential investment of `14.05 lakh crore and employment opportunities for 10.79 lakh people.
