Venkaiah Naidu Wants Youth To Embrace Service, Sacrifice And Spiritual Discipline

VIJAYAWADA: India’s former vice president M. Venkaiah Naidu on Sunday described the Ramakrishna Mission as a “university of values and a powerhouse for nation-building.” He underlined that such institutions rooted in ethics and service are vital to shaping responsible citizens.

Inaugurating the Vivekananda Human Excellence Centre (VHEC) at Gandhi Nagar in Vijayawada built it a cost of ₹8.5 crore, Venkaiah Naidu described VHEC as a sanctuary of character, which would serve as a beacon of knowledge for youth and play a transformative role in their future.

The inauguration ceremony included cultural programmes at the Tummalapalli Kalakshetram, which drew devotees and well-wishers in large numbers. A special Vivekananda Youth Conclave held on the occasion stood out, underscoring the Mission’s renewed focus on youth empowerment.

Gautamananda recalled his four-decade-long association with the Vijayawada Ramakrishna Mission and lauded the institution’s contribution to value-based education. He regretted that education without values is becoming increasingly common. Drawing inspiration from Ramakrishna Paramahamsa and Swami Vivekananda, Gautamananda urged youth to embrace service, sacrifice and spiritual discipline.

The Ramakrishna Mission felicitated Venkaiah Naidu with a commemorative memento. It honoured donors who contributed to the construction of the VHEC with shawls and bouquets. Those felicitated included former MP Gokaraju Ganga Raju, BJP MLA Kamineni Srinivas and film director Koratala Siva.

Speakers recalled the Mission’s selfless service during natural calamities, including floods and the Covid-19 pandemic.
