VIJAYAWADA: Vellampalli Srinivas, former minister and MLA, expressed strong disapproval of the opposition parties' politics surrounding the provision of drinking water to Vijayawada citizens. He stated that the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation has a robust network of drinking water pipelines, but acknowledged the possibility of drain water infiltrating the supply through damaged pipelines in certain areas.
On Saturday, the MLA met with the VMC commissioner and urged the immediate repair of old and defunct water pipelines to resolve the drinking water issue and ensure the supply of quality water through the pipelines.
In a statement, Vellampalli criticised the opposition Telugu Desam (TD) and other parties for creating unnecessary drama and instilling fear among the public regarding the drinking water supplied through municipal pipelines. He highlighted that the YSRC government has ensured the supply of quality drinking water to Vijayawada residents over the past five years without any complaints, and encouraged citizens in the Central constituency to dial 818196090, a toll-free number, to report any issues with the drinking water supply.
