Veda Purusha Saptaha Jnana Yajna Begins At Prasanthi Nilayam

The week-long Veda Purusha Saptaha Jnana Yajna began at Prasanthi Nilayam with Vedic rituals and prayers for world peace and universal harmony.

The sacred Veda Purusha Saptaha Jnana Yajna commenced at Prasanthi Nilayam in Sri Satya Sai district on Wednesday with traditional rituals and Vedic chants as part of the Devi Navaratri and Dasara celebrations.

The week-long spiritual ritual is being conducted with prayers for world peace, universal harmony, and welfare of the society.

Proceedings began on Wednesday morning at the Bhajan Mandir with special pujas and prayers, including kumkumarchana to the sacred Kalash. Amid Vedic chants, priests took out the Kalash in a ceremonial procession to the Poornachandra Auditorium, where the yajna started.

Vedic scholars performed Rudra Homam and offered oblations to the sacred fire, praying for peace, brotherhood, and the well-being of all beings. Sahasra Lingarchana, involving the worship of 1,000 sacred earthen Shiva lingams, had been performed. Priests offered Surya Namaskaras in gratitude to the Sun God, revered as the source of light and sustenance for all life.

Recitations from Ramayana, Srimad Bhagavatam, and Devi Mahatmyam formed part of the spiritual programme. Students of the Sri Satya Sai educational institutions recited sacred verses from the Devi Mahatmyam, filling the auditorium with a devotional atmosphere.

Sri Satya Sai Central Trust managing trustee R. J. Rathnakar, collector Shyam Prasad, senior members of the Sri Satya Sai Seva Organisations, trust representatives, and other dignitaries participated in the inaugural rituals. A large number of devotees attended the programme.

The Veda Purusha Saptaha Jnana Yajna had been instituted by Sri Satya Sai Baba in 1962. It symbolises his vision of preserving Vedic knowledge and upholding the eternal values of Sanatana Dharma. The yajna provides an opportunity for devotees to reaffirm their commitment to universal values of Satya (truth), Dharma (righteousness), Shanti (peace), Prema (love) and Ahimsa (non-violence), as taught by Sri Satya Sai Baba.
