HYDERABAD: Prof. Chennupati Jagadish, currently Institution of Eminence Chair Professor at the University of Hyderabad (UoH), has been elected Fellow of the Royal Society, United Kingdom. The Royal Society, one of the oldest scientific institutions in the world, elects fellows based on their exceptional contribution to science.

Prof Jagadish’s election comes in recognition of decades of work in nanotechnology, semiconductor optoelectronics, and policy-oriented science leadership. His research has advanced the development of LEDs, lasers, and nanoscale devices that serve a range of optoelectronic functions.

A statement said his output spanned more than 800 publications, cited nearly 38,000 times globally. His academic base remains at the Australian National University (ANU), where he holds the title of Emeritus Professor at the department of electronic materials engineering, ANU Research School of Physics and Engineering.
