ULB polls: High Court Dismisses YSRC Plea For Paramilitary Forces
A two-judge bench of Justice Kiranmayee Mandava and Justice Alapati Giridhar heard the plea: Reports

VIJAYAWADA: The Andhra Pradesh High Court has dismissed a petition from the YSR Congress seeking deployment of paramilitary forces to ensure fair and peaceful polling for the local body elections in the state.
A two-judge bench of Justice Kiranmayee Mandava and Justice Alapati Giridhar heard the plea here on Monday in the aftermath of incidents in which the ruling alliance allegedly obstructed several YSRC nominees from filing their nomination papers.
YSRC’s counsel Ponnavolu Sudhakar argued that leaders of the TD etc were not allowing YSRC leaders to reach the nomination centres to file their papers. He also alleged that the police were colluding with the ruling party leaders in such efforts.
Advocate general Dammalapati Srinivas submitted that some minor issues in the two districts were being projected as major issues of violence and noted that the police were doing their job properly and the situation was under control.
After hearing both the parties, the court struck down the petition.
