Two Women Die As Tree Falls In Peda Bayalu Market, ASR district

VISAKHAPATNAM: Two women have died while three were others injured when a tree was uprooted during heavy rain and strong winds at a weekly market in Peda Bayalu mandal of Alluri Sitarama Raju district on Monday.

The incident occurred near the old MPDO office during the market, which attracts vendors and shoppers from nearby villages. The deceased were identified as Korra Saitamma, 30, and Ichamma, 40, both residents of Jarrayya village in Odisha, who were selling vegetables at the time.

Police and officials rushed to the spot and began rescue operations. Sub-Inspector Venkatesh said sudden gusts of wind and rainfall uprooted the tree, which fell into the crowded marketplace.

Three customers sustained injuries, including a fractured leg, a hand injury and minor wounds, and were shifted to the district hospital for treatment. Police have registered a case and the bodies were sent for post-mortem.
