Two New Train Services Launched From Guntakal

The long-pending demand for improved railway connectivity in the district had finally been fulfilled: MP Ambica Lakshminarayana

ANANTAPUR: Two key railway services centred at Guntakal were formally launched on Tuesday, marking a major boost to railway connectivity in Anantapur district.

The new Guntakal–Markapur Road daily passenger train (Nos. 57407/57408) and the extension of the Tirumala Express (18521/18522) up to Guntakal were inaugurated at Guntakal Railway Station by Anantapur MP Ambica Lakshminarayana.

Speaking on the occasion, the MP said the long-pending demand for improved railway connectivity in the district had finally been fulfilled. He noted that the Guntakal–Markapur Road passenger service would benefit daily commuters and passengers travelling towards Nandyal and Markapur.

He said the extension of the Tirumala Express up to Guntakal would make travel to North Andhra districts more convenient.

Lakshminarayana thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Union Minister of State V. Somanna for supporting the approval of the services. He also thanked Nandyal MP Byreddy Shabari for her cooperation.

The MP urged passengers to make use of the newly introduced services for convenient and affordable travel.

Guntakal DRM Chandrasekhar Gupta, ADRM Shiv Prasad, Senior DCM Manoj and Senior DOM M. Sravan attended the programme.
