Kadapa: Two men allegedly assaulted a woman sexually at a hotel in Vontimitta of Kadapa district on Monday.
According to police, one of the accused is a reporter working for a local publication who also deals in selling fruits. He had recently procured fruits and, during the process, struck up a conversation with a woman labourer.
Later, the reporter, along with the owner of an auto, consumed alcohol along with the woman. The trio forcibly occupied a room at a hotel in Vontimitta, though the hotel staff reportedly objected to their entry as they had neither booked a room nor paid any charges.
The two men allegedly assaulted the woman in the room. The woman severely bit the tongue of the reporter, resulting in a portion of it getting severed. Panic-stricken, the reporter ran out and rushed to the Vontimitta Primary Health Centre, where he received first aid. The reporter’s family members shifted him in a 108 ambulance to RIMS Hospital in Kadapa for better treatment.
In the interim, the auto driver reportedly left the victim at the nearby railway station and fled.
On coming to know about the incident, police reached the hotel premises late on Monday night and began their inquiry. They have detained the auto driver and have launched a search for the woman.
A case has been registered against both the auto driver and the reporter.
