Two Killed, Three Injured in Khammam Road Accident

The accident occurred around 5.30 am when the car in which the victims were travelling was hit by an over-speeding lorry coming from the opposite direction

Nalgonda: Two persons were killed and three others seriously injured in a road accident at Mittapally in Thallada mandal of Khammam district in the early hours of Monday.

The deceased were identified as Chillara Balakrishna and Rayala Anil, both residents of Zaffargadh in Jangaon district. The injured — K. Ajay, Kollipaka Kranthi and Gattu Rakesh — belong to Uppugallu village in Station Ghanpur mandal of Jangaon district.

The accident occurred around 5.30 am when the car in which the victims were travelling was hit by an over-speeding lorry coming from the opposite direction. According to police, the car was heading towards Thallada from the Kalluru side, while the lorry was travelling from Thallada towards Kalluru.

The victims were returning to their native place after attending the Jagannath yatra when the mishap occurred.

On receiving information, Thallada police rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to a hospital in Khammam for treatment. The bodies of the deceased were moved to the Government General Hospital mortuary in Khammam for post-mortem examination.
