Two Held With 2.5 Kg Of Ganja In Nandyal

According to Nandyal assistant superintendent of police M Javali, the arrest took place around 1 pm near the Prathama Nandi Temple arch close to the “Y” junction in Nandyal town.

Kurnool: Nandyal police arrested two persons in the town on Wednesday for allegedly selling ganja. Police seized 2.5 kg of ganja, a Maruti Swift Dzire car, and two mobile phones from their possession.

According to Nandyal assistant superintendent of police M Javali, the arrest took place around 1 pm near the Prathama Nandi Temple arch close to the “Y” junction in Nandyal town. The accused were identified as Shaik Muneer Basha and his younger brother, Shaik Mahaboob Basha, both residents of Basapuram village in Gajulapalli mandal of Nandyal district.

She said that Muneer Basha had reportedly brought the ganja from Araku in his car and was handing it over to his brother when the police team acted on reliable information. Acting on instructions from officials, a team led by Three Town inspector E. Kambagiri Ramudu, deputy tahsildar Prasad, excise sub inspector Varaprasad, and staff rushed to the spot and apprehended the two suspects.

Police said the duo was found in possession of ganja and was attempting to sell it illegally. Both were taken into custody, and the seized property was sent to the police station. A case has been registered against them under Crime No. 173/2025 under Section 20(b)(ii)(B) of the NDPS Act at Nandyal Three Town Police Station. The ASP said that further investigation is underway.
