Two Held With 11 Red Sanders Logs in Annamayya
The personnel chased the suspects and apprehended two of them, while another escaped.
Tirupati:The red sanders anti-smuggling task force arrested two alleged smugglers and seized 11 red sanders logs being transported in a car on the KV Palli-Piler road in Annamayya district early on Monday.
According to officials, a task force team led by ARSI K. Maheswara Naidu, along with forest personnel, was conducting vehicle checks near Ponthala Cheruvu Cross when it noticed a car approaching at high speed. On seeing the check-post, the occupants allegedly stopped the vehicle and attempted to flee.
The personnel chased the suspects and apprehended two of them, while another escaped. The arrested men are residents of Tirupattur and Tiruvannamalai districts in Tamil Nadu.
A search of the vehicle led to the seizure of 11 red sanders logs. The accused, the seized timber and the vehicle were shifted to the Red Sanders Anti-Smuggling Task Force police station in Tirupati.
The accused were questioned by DSP V. Srinivasulu Reddy and assistant conservator of forests J. Srinivas. circle inspector Khader Basha registered a case and further investigation is underway.
