Two Held for Murder in Nellore City

Police traced and arrested the accused on January 8, 2026, near Venkateswarapuram Polytechnic College.

Nellore: Santhapet police have arrested two persons in connection with the murder of Shiva alias Narasimhulu, a native of Karnataka, who was beaten to death with sticks near the Ranganayakulapeta railway gate and dargah on Railway Station Road in Nellore city on January 6, 2026. The case was solved within 48 hours.

The case was registered as Cr. No. 10/2026 under Sections 103(1), 118(1) read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Santhapet police station, based on a complaint filed by Naguluri Jyothi (27) of Atmakur in SPSR Nellore district.

According to police, Jyothi had been living with the deceased near the Nellore Railway Station area. The prime accused, Uppalapati Sai Narasimhulu (43), who had earlier lived with Jyothi, allegedly bore a grudge after she refused to return to him. The second accused, Thumati Ashok Babu (28), is said to have harassed Jyothi and later joined hands with Sai Narasimhulu.

On the night of January 6, at around 9.30 pm, the accused allegedly attacked Shiva with sticks near the dargah, inflicting severe head injuries. Jyothi, who attempted to intervene, was also assaulted. Shiva succumbed to his injuries after being shifted to the Nellore Government Hospital.

Police traced and arrested the accused on January 8, 2026, near Venkateswarapuram Polytechnic College.
