TTD to Insure Every Devotee, Rs.2 lakh in Event of Death: Naidu

TIRUPATI: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday inaugurated a series of new facilities at Tirumala aimed at improving pilgrim transport, safety, accommodation services and the overall pilgrimage experience. The initiatives include 32 new electric buses for free transport, a `2 lakh life insurance scheme for pilgrims, a virtual reality facility showcasing sevas, the renovated Sri Venkateswara Museum and the Nandakam app for faster resolution of accommodation-related complaints.
The 32 electric buses, donated by Reliance Industries Limited (25 e-buses) and Bharat Biotech Foundation (seven e-buses), were launched as ‘Srivari Dharmarathalu’. With their addition, the number of free buses operating in Tirumala will increase from 18 to 50. Daily trips will rise from 300 to 810 on three routes, with buses running every three minutes on the main routes.
Under the new group insurance scheme introduced in association with LIC of India, pilgrims visiting Tirumala will receive life insurance cover of `2 lakh during their stay. The coverage will be available for up to four days, with TTD bearing the premium. TTD has made an advance deposit of `2.12 crore with LIC for the scheme.
Naidu also inaugurated a Healing and Devotion Experience Centre at the 17th compartment of Vaikuntam Queue Complex I. Using AI, VR and interactive displays, it presents Tirumala’s history and spiritual significance to waiting pilgrims, with guided meditation sessions streamed to Queue Complexes I and II. Its ‘Durlabha Darshan’ VR facility offers a 13-minute, 3D, 360-degree experience of sevas including Suprabhatam, Thomala, Sahasranamarchana and Abhishekam.
The Chief Minister also inaugurated the renovated Sri Venkateswara Museum. Originally opened in 1998, the museum has been refurbished with the support of TCS. It has 14 galleries spread across four floors over about one lakh square feet, displaying more than 8,000 exhibits. Holographic displays, 360-degree sound, interactive digital displays and digital archives have been introduced.
The Nandakam defect management app, developed by 3Five8 Technologies Pvt. Ltd. (ADDA App), was also launched to monitor and resolve problems such as electrical, plumbing, housekeeping and carpentry issues in pilgrim accommodation. The system covers 7,043 rooms under six packages. Since August 8, the trial run registered 2,031 issues and resolved 2,028, with 98.2 per cent addressed on time.
TTD chairman B.R. Naidu, executive officer Muddada Ravichandra, additional EO Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary, joint EO Dr A. Sharath, collector Dr S. Venkateshwar, CVSO K.V. Muralikrishna and SP L. Subba Rayudu were among those present.
