Tirupati: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) Board is reportedly planning to set up a dedicated lounge for devotees who have booked Srivani darshan tickets through current booking and have to wait for darshan on the same day. Reporting time at Tirumala is at 4:00 PM for same-day darshan for these tickets.
TTD currently issues Arjita Seva tickets, Rs 300 special entry darshan, VIP Break Darshan, SSD tokens and Srivani Trust tickets, both online and offline.
Under the Srivani scheme, devotees donating Rs 10,000 plus Rs 500 are given VIP Break Darshan.TTD allots 500 tokens online three months in advance, 500 through daily current booking, 300 for past donors, and 200 offline at Tirupati Airport. Those who book in advance get accommodation.
However, devotees taking current booking tickets face hardship as they collect tokens around 9 AM but get darshan only at 4 PM. They are not provided rooms, and most of them stay at hotels downhill and come up before the darshan time.
To address this, TTD is considering converting the vacant old Woodside Hotel near Annamayya Bhavan into a waiting lounge like the ones in the airport. The proposed facility will have restrooms, seating, bathrooms, internet, and a food court. However, an official announcement from TTD is awaited.
