TTD Introduces QR Code–Based Footwear Counters in Tirumala

Tirupati:The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams has introduced a QR code–based footwear management system in Tirumala to address issues faced by pilgrims while depositing and collecting their footwear.
The facility was inaugurated on Tuesday morning by TTD AEO Venkaiah Chowdary at the Matrusri Tarigonda Vengamamba Annaprasadam Complex in Tirumala. He said the “system offers an efficient solution” to footwear management.
The system was first launched as a pilot project at the Vaikuntha Queue Complex–2. Following a positive response,TTD now set up eight such counters at different locations. Pilgrims depositing their footwear are issued a QR code–generated slip that carries details such as the number of footwear items, their size, rack number, box number and storage location.
When pilgrims return, a scanning of the QR code would identify the exact location of the footwear. Some 99 percent of the pilgrims are now able to collect their footwear, compared to 70 to 80 per cent earlier, when many pairs were left behind due to mixing and confusion, TTD said.
The project is being implemented by Coromandel International Ltd as part of its corporate social responsibility initiative.
Senior vice president of Coromandel International K Satyanarayana and TTD officials were present.
