TTD Donates 20 Breath Analysers to Tirupati Police
TTD executive officer Anil Kumar Singhal said ensuring the safety of devotees visiting Tirumala remained the temple trust’s top priority

Tirupati: The Tirupati district police on Sunday received 20 breath analysers from the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) to strengthen road safety measures, particularly on the Tirumala ghat roads used daily by lakhs of pilgrims. The devices, procured at a cost of about ₹8 lakh, were handed over at a programme held in Tirupati.
TTD executive officer Anil Kumar Singhal said ensuring the safety of devotees visiting Tirumala remained the temple trust’s top priority. He said the breath analysers would help curb drunken driving and prevent accidents on the sensitive ghat roads. Singhal added that TTD would continue to support the police with modern equipment to protect pilgrims.
Tirupati district superintendent of police L. Subba Rayudu said drunken driving posed a serious threat on the ghat roads and would not be tolerated. He warned that offenders would face strict legal action, including seizure of vehicles and court proceedings, with no leniency. Even minor negligence, he said, could endanger lives and cause immense hardship to families.
Of the 20 breath analysers, four will be deployed in Tirumala, four at Alipiri, and 12 across Tirupati by traffic and law and order police.
Additional SP Ravi Manohar Achari, DSPs Ramakrishna Achari and Chandra Sekhar, and other officials were present.
