TTD Board Member J. Krishnamurthy Resigns Amid Land Row

Sends the Resignation Letter to CM Naidu

Tirupati: Prominent backward classes’ leader and former MLA Janga Krishnamurthy has resigned as a member of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) trust board on Friday.

However, he has sent his resignation to Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu for approval.

In his resignation letter, Krishnamurthy expressed anguish over the AP Cabinet’s decision to cancel the allotment of a site to his trust at Tirumala for construction of a guesthouse under the TTD cottage donation scheme.

The former MLA regretted that the cabinet had rescinded the decision of the TTD trust board to allot land based only on media reports, without examining facts.

Krishnamurthy maintained that some sections of the media published baseless reports without contacting him or verifying the details, which caused him deep pain. He said these reports appeared to be aimed at damaging his reputation.

Explaining the background, the former MLA said he had requested the Chief Minister to allot Plot No. 2 at Balaji Nagar in Tirumala, a site that had earlier been allotted to him and later cancelled, but which is still vacant. He said the CM had directed the TTD trust board to take a decision. Following this, the board resolved to re-allot Plot No. 2 to him and informed the government accordingly.

Krishnamurthy expressed disappointment that the AP cabinet cancelled the trust board’s decision without examining the full facts of the case. Under the circumstances, he stated that he is unable to continue as a trust board member.

The former MLA said he is stepping down with a heavy heart and requested the Chief Minister to accept his resignation.
