VIZIANAGARAM: A deep sense of grief has gripped Geddavalasa village in Rajam mandal after a tragic lightning strike claimed the lives of three women farm labourers on Tuesday.
The women were working in agricultural fields when a sudden thunderstorm swept through the area. In a matter of moments, a powerful bolt of lightning struck the exact spot where they were standing, killing them instantly, according to local reports.
The victims have been identified as Sattemma, Ramulamma (initially reported as Ramu), and Narasamma.
Local officials reached the spot soon after the incident, and the bodies were shifted for necessary procedures. The tragedy has left the entire village shaken, once again underscoring the risks faced by agricultural workers during the monsoon season, when sudden weather changes can turn deadly without warning.
