Traffic Diversions Announced For Shankar Vilas Bridge Works In Guntur

VIJAYAWADA: The Guntur West traffic police have announced a series of traffic diversions in the busy Brodipet and Arundelpet areas of Guntur city in view of the ongoing construction of the Shankar Vilas Bridge across the railway track. Police officials said new pillar construction works would commence within the limits of Brodipet 4th Line and Arundelpet 4th and 5th Lines as part of the bridge development project.

Guntur city traffic DSP Bellam Srinivasa Rao said the traffic diversions would come into force from May 21, 2026, to ensure smooth vehicular movement and minimise inconvenience to commuters during the construction period. He said adequate traffic police personnel would be deployed at key junctions and the situation would be monitored continuously.

As per the revised traffic plan, vehicles travelling from Brodipet towards Arundelpet should proceed via the road beside the old police quarters near the Brodipet 4/7 Line area and enter Arundelpet through the road adjacent to the Arundelpet Police Station.

Motorists travelling from Brodipet 2nd and 3rd Line localities towards Arundelpet have been advised to use Arundelpet 1st Line, also known as Railway Station Road.

Vehicles approaching Brodipet from Pattabhipuram, AT Agraharam and Ashok Nagar areas should travel via LEM School Road and continue through Lodge Centre towards Arundelpet.

Similarly, traffic moving from Lodge Centre towards Arundelpet 5th Line will be diverted through Arundelpet 6th to 10th Line roads towards Donka Road.

The traffic police appealed to motorists and the public to cooperate with traffic personnel and follow the diversion routes to avoid congestion and ensure smooth traffic movement in the city.
