Tracking Device Triggered Frequent Disputes Between Couple: Sricharan’s Father

Durga Prasad said the 10th-day ritual for Gayatri would be performed at Simhachalam Koneru on Wednesday.

Visakhapatnam: S. Durga Prasad, father-in-law of Radha Gayatri, who died under unexplained circumstances in Mussoorie on June 15, has said that repeated disputes had occurred between Gayatri and my son Somayajulu Sricharan over the issue of a tracking device, an electronic tool that monitors and records the geographic location of a person, vehicle or asset like GPS.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle on Tuesday, Durga Prasad said the matter had frequently led to arguments between the couple. He said his wife, Seethalakshmi, had often counselled Sricharan over the issue and had, on one occasion, reprimanded him strongly.

“We always counseled the couple advising them to have patience as they were newly married and sort out things amicably,” he said.

In a complaint lodged with police, Gayatri’s father P. Sudhakar alleged that his daughter had been subjected to harassment by Sricharan, including the planting of a tracking device in her bag.

Expressing grief over Gayatri’s death, Durga Prasad described her as being like a close friend to the family and said he was deeply saddened by the incident. He said that if he was experiencing such pain, he could only imagine the suffering of Gayatri’s parents.

He further said that Sricharan considered himself perfect, which he described as his son's biggest weakness. However, Durga Prasad refrained from either blaming or defending Sricharan in connection with the case.

“The courts will determine the truth,” he said.

Durga Prasad said the 10th-day ritual for Gayatri would be performed at Simhachalam Koneru on Wednesday.

Asked whether Sricharan would attend the ceremony, he said his son was travelling to Dehradun from New Delhi.
