Tourism Development In AP: Carnival, Film Studio Planned
Tirupati: Minister for Tourism, culture, and Cinematography, Kandula Durgesh, has announced plans to organise a carnival to boost tourism in Andhra Pradesh. The minister said steps are being taken to establish a film studio in Tirupati.
Durgesh held a review meeting at a private hotel in Tirupati on Friday to discuss the development of tourism. The meeting focused on strategies to improve the tourism sector, with particular emphasis on Tirupati and Tirumala.
The minister said the government would take steps to improve the sector with help from the central government and through public-private partnerships.
“We are committed to developing both temple tourism and ecotourism. We have plans to organise a tourism carnival,” he said.
Addressing concerns about Tirumala and Tirupati, Durgesh stressed that Hindu sentiments would be protected.
He said, “We are considering the reinstatement of pensions for artists. Discussions are on with producers to construct a film studio in Tirupati, leveraging its connectivity to Chennai and Bangalore.”
During the discussions, suggestions were made to build a hotel on the tourism department land near Tirumala. Tirupati MLA Arani Srinivasa proposed the creation of a tourism circuit connecting Tirumala-Tirupati, Srikalahasti and Kanipakam, along with development of infrastructure facilities.
