Toothless Mallu Panel Avoids Rajgopal Mess
Party leaders were of the view that the leadership should take strong note of the dissident voice and launch corrective measures to stem the rebellion in the bud itself.

Hyderabad: The disciplinary committee of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee led by MP Mallu Ravi is hesitant even to discuss the open rebellion of party MLA from Munugode Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy leave alone taking any action against him for his repeated outbursts against none other than Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
On the contrary, the committee vehemently pursued complaints against forest minister Konda Surekha’s husband and senior party leader Murali and slowed him down leaving scope for the opposition parties to question dual standards. The committee, which met at Gandhi Bhavan here on Sunday, restricted itself to looking into complaints against Gajwel District Congress Committee president T. Narsa Reddy. Cornered about Rajagopal Reddy issue in the interaction with mediapersons Ravi said the PCC president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud informed him of the Munugode MLA’s adverse comments in the wake of denial of Cabinet berth to him. “We are gathering information (on Rajgopal Reddy’s comments) and will meet again to discuss it,” he said.
Party sources, however, told Deccan Chronicle that the leadership was in a wait-and-watch mode as the situation may turn worse given the no holds barred attitude of the maverick Congress MLA who stepped up his attack on state leadership in particular the Chief Minister. Speaking at a local function in the constituency, he said he questioned the Chief Minister if the latter wanted to enjoy both political and financial powers. “Padavulu meeke paisalu kooda mekenaa ani adigaa,” he said while referring to denial of dues to contractors who laid CC roads in his constituency. Earlier, he took to social media platform X and condemned Revanth Reddy’s assertion that he would remain Chief Minister at least for 10 years.
Party leaders were of the view that the leadership should take strong note of the dissident voice and launch corrective measures to stem the rebellion in the bud itself. “Never in the past have the Congress governments put up a united show as that of Revanth Reddy’s Cabinet,” said a senior party leader referring to a mutually respected working relationship between the Chief Minister and his Cabinet colleagues. There is not even a murmur of dissent against Revanth Reddy and at times the cabinet ministers stood by him, he added.
The leaders were of the view that even strongmen like Dr Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy faced dissidence and the situation worsened during the tenures of K. Rosaiah and N. Kiran Kumar Reddy. “The free for all situation, if allowed, will lead to repeat of those tenures,” a minister pointed out.
