Tirupati: Tirumala to Witness Two Brahmotsavams for Lord Venkateswara This Year
The Navaratri Brahmotsavams will start on October 12 and conclude on October 20.
Tirupati: Owing to the Adhika Masam this year, the hill town of Tirumala will witness two Brahmotsavams in honour of Lord Venkateswara.
The first Brahmotsavam will be from September 15 to September 23, whose preparations are in the final stage. The other Navaratri Brahmotsavams is scheduled from October 12 to October 20.
Adhika Masa is an additional lunar month that occurs roughly once in three years to bring the lunar and solar calendars into alignment. In such years, Tirumala follows the tradition of conducting two Brahmotsavams.
While the Salakatla Brahmotsavam has Dwajarohanam at the beginning and Dwajavarohanam at the end, the Navaratri Brahmotsavam does not include these two rituals.
The Salakatla Brahmotsavam began with Ankurarpanam on Sunday evening, while the formal celebrations will commence on Monday with Dwajarohanam in the evening, followed by Pedda Sesha Vahanam.
Vahana Sevas are the main attraction during the Brahmotsavam, during which the Utsava Murti of Sri Malayappa Swamy, accompanied by the idols of His divine consorts Sridevi and Bhudevi, is taken in procession on different vahanams every day of the nine-day festivities.
The morning Vahana Seva is generally held from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and the evening processions are from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The Navaratri Brahmotsavams will start on October 12 and conclude on October 12 20.
