Tirupati MP Seeks Railway Upgrades in His Lok Sabha Constituency
Pushes for permanent campus of NIELIT in Tirupati

Nellore: Tirupati MP Maddila Gurumoorthy on Saturday met central Railways, Electronics and Information Technology minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. The MP urged the central minister to expedite several pending railway projects in his Tirupati parliamentary constituency, while seeking support for digital education and cyber research initiatives in the region.
During the meeting, the MP highlighted the long-pending railway infrastructure issues concerning Tirupati, Renigunta, and Gudur regions. He appealed for the development of Renigunta Railway Station into a modern terminal with enhanced passenger amenities, parking facilities, and cargo infrastructure, besides seeking special budgetary allocation for the project.
Gurumoorthy requested speedy completion of the final phase of Srikalahasti-Nadikudi railway line works. Stressing on the travel needs of people from Nellore district, he asked Ashwini Vaishnaw to extend the Simhapuri Express from Gudur to Tirupati, saying it would greatly benefit students, employees, and daily commuters.
The Lok Sabha member sought early completion of Ambedkar Nagar underpass expansion works in Gudur. He wanted stoppages for Krishna, Puri, and Tirumala express trains at Vendodu railway station. He underlined the urgent need for a foot overbridge at Tirupati West Railway Station.
On the technology and education front, the MP wanted establishment of a permanent campus for the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) in Tirupati. He requested the centre to fast-track land acquisition near Tirupati Airport and sanction at least ₹300 crore for laboratories, research centres, hostels, and innovation hubs.
Gurumoorthy sought full central support for Sri Venkateswara University’s proposed Centre of Excellence for Policy, Law, and Technical Research in Cyberspace. He underlined that Tirupati has the potential to emerge as a major national hub for cyber research and digital innovation.
