Tirupati: A major fire broke out at the scrap yard of the Railway Carriage Repair Shop (CRS) on the Renigunta–Tirupati route on Monday morning. The fire erupted while waste was being burned.
Thick smoke billowing from the scrap yard caused panic among residents, who immediately alerted the fire department. Firefighters rushed to the spot, and two fire engines were pressed into service to bring the blaze under control.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. The extent of the damage is being assessed.
