Tirupati: Thousands of devotees thronged the mada streets of Tirumala on Friday to witness the procession of Lord Malayappa Swamy on Kalpavriksha and Sarva Bhoopala Vahanams on the fourth day of the ongoing Salakatla Brahmotsavams.
In the morning, Lord Malayappa, accompanied by Sridevi and Bhudevi, was taken in a procession on the golden Kalpavriksha Vahanam.
The Lord appeared in the Govula Gopanna alankaram as devotees gathered along the four mada streets to seek his blessings.
The Kalpavriksha Vahanam, associated with the churning of the Ksheera Sagaram in Hindu mythology, was adorned with representations of Kalpavriksha, Kamadhenu and Chintamani.
In the evening, Lord Malayappa was taken out in the Gajendra Moksha alankaram on the Sarva Bhoopala Vahanam.
The vahanam symbolises the Lord’s supremacy over the Dikpalakas, the guardians of the cardinal directions.
Tirumala pontiffs Pedda Jeeyar Swamy and Chinna Jeeyar Swamy, TTD chairman B.R. Naidu, executive officer Muddada Ravichandra, Additional EO Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary, chief vigilance and security officer K.V. Murali Krishna, SP L. Subba Rayudu and other officials participated in the festivities.
