Tirupati: Leopard Spotted on Ghat Road, Forest Officials Urge Travellers to Exercise Caution
Forest officials have urged motorists not to stop unnecessarily, approach or chase wild animals, and to maintain a safe distance in case they encounter wildlife on the road.
Tirupati: A leopard was sighted near the Railway Koduru of Tirupati district on Tuesday night, creating panic among motorists and local residents.
According to reports, a few passers-by travelling by car spotted the leopard sitting on a protective wall along the Chitvel-Rapur Ghat Road. A few people recorded videos of the animal on their mobile phones. The leopard remained on the wall for some time before moving away and entering the nearby forest.
Several leopard sighted in recent times on this route, prompting forest officials to advise motorists and commuters to exercise caution while travelling through the stretch.
Chitvel Forest Range Officer (FRO) Dheeraj Kumar said that around 20 cheetahs and one tiger were roaming in the area and urged travellers to remain alert. He advised people to avoid unnecessary travel on the ghat road during night times.
The forest official also said that bikers are not permitted on the ghat road after 5 pm as a precautionary measure. He further advised commuters to avoid travelling on the route during night time.
