Kurnool: The Andhra Pradesh government has constituted the Tirupati Economic Region (TER) to promote balanced and integrated development across Rayalaseema and Nellore districts, excise and mines principal secretary and TER chief executive officer Mukesh Kumar Meena said on Monday.
Reviewing the district’s development vision at a meeting held at the collectorate mini conference hall, Meena said the state had created three economic regions — Visakhapatnam, Amaravati and Tirupati — to ensure equitable growth across Andhra Pradesh.
He said the Tirupati Economic Region comprises nine districts: Tirupati, Nellore, Chittoor, Annamayya, Kadapa, Nandyal, Kurnool, Anantapur and Sri Sathya Sai.
Meena said region-specific action plans would be prepared after assessing strengths, natural resources, industrial potential, infrastructure availability and growth opportunities. Priority would be given to sectors capable of driving economic expansion, while urban development, transport connectivity and human resource development would be planned in an integrated manner.
The principal secretary stressed the need to reserve land in advance for future urban expansion around industrial zones. He directed officials to identify suitable land parcels in Adoni for industrial units and solar energy projects and emphasised the importance of ensuring adequate water and power supply for industries.
The meeting also reviewed the development of the Orvakal node, including industrial units, the proposed drone city, food processing clusters, MSMEs, irrigation projects and industrial water supply infrastructure.
Kurnool district collector Dr A. Siri gave a presentation on ongoing and proposed projects, infrastructure preparedness, employment opportunities and the district’s overall development progress.
