Tirupati Declared Drone-Restricted Zone

Recent incidents have shown a rise in unauthorised drone activity in violation of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) norms.

Nellore: Acting on the directives of DSP Tirupati, police have imposed strict restrictions on the use of drones across the district, citing growing security concerns.

Tirupati, being a national religious hub that attracts pilgrims from across India to the Tirumala Sri Venkateswara Temple, along with the presence of an airport and large public gatherings, has been identified as a security-sensitive location.

Recent incidents have shown a rise in unauthorised drone activity in violation of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) norms.

As per the key drone regulations issued by the police, operators must possess valid licences from DGCA, prior permission from local police is also mandatory before operating any drone. The No-Fly Zones include Tirumala Hills, airport surroundings, and major public gathering areas.

Violations will result in seizure of the drone and strict legal action.

The police urged citizens to report any suspicious drone activity immediately via Dial 100 or 112.
