Tirumala Temple To Shut For Over 10 hrs On March 3 Due To Lunar Eclipse

"The temple will remain closed for over 10 hours and will reopen for devotees after the completion of purificatory rituals," it added

Tirupati: The hill shrine of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala will remain closed for about 10.5 hours on March 3 due to a lunar eclipse, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) announced.

The lunar eclipse will begin at 3.20 pm and conclude at 6.47 pm on March 3. As per temple tradition, the sanctum will be closed six hours before the start of the eclipse. Accordingly, the temple doors will close at 9 am and reopen at 7.30 pm on the same day.
TTD officials said purification rituals, including Punyahavachanam, will be performed after reopening, and darshan for devotees will resume from 8.30 pm.
In view of the eclipse, all arjitha sevas scheduled for the day—including Ashtadala Pada Padmaradhana, Kalyanotsavam, Unjal Seva, Arjitha Brahmotsavam and Sahasra Deepalankara Seva—have been cancelled.
TTD advised devotees to take note of the revised timings and plan their Tirumala visit accordingly.
