Tirumala Temple to Close for 12 Hours During Lunar Eclipse on September 7–8
Darshan resumes Sept 8 morning; rituals held in Ekantam, sevas cancelled.

Tirupati: The Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Tirumala will remain closed for nearly 12 hours, from 3.30 p.m. on September 7 to 3 a.m. on September 8, in view of the upcoming lunar eclipse. The eclipse will begin at 9.50 p.m. on September 7 and conclude at 1.31 a.m. on September 8.
As per tradition, the temple closes six hours prior to the eclipse. The doors will reopen at 3 a.m. on September 8 with the Suprabatham ritual, followed by purification and special prayers. Thomala Seva, Koluvu, Panchangashravana, and Archana will be performed in Ekantam.
Regular darshan for devotees will resume at 6 a.m. All Arjitha Sevas scheduled for September 7, including Unjal Seva, Arjitha Brahmotsavam, and Sahasradeepalankarana Sevas, have been cancelled by TTD.
Annaprasadam distribution centres in Tirumala, including Matrusri Tarigonda Vengamamba Annaprasadam Bhavan, Employees’ Canteen, Sri Padmavathi Visranti Bhavan, Vaikuntham Queue Complex-2, and Pilgrims Amenities Complex-2, will remain closed from 3 p.m. on September 7 and resume operations at 8.30 a.m. on September 8.
For devotees’ convenience, the TTD Annaprasadam department will distribute 30,000 Pulihora packets starting from 4.30 p.m. on September 7 at various points. The TTD has requested devotees to plan their Tirumala visit accordingly in light of these changes.
