Kakinada / Visakhapatnam: Thunderstorms lashed many parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh on Saturday afternoon, providing relief to people from the sweltering heat.

Reports from Kakinada said gusty winds uprooted a huge tree, disrupting traffic in the city. Police and fire service personnel rushed to the spot, removed the tree, and cleared traffic.
Konaseema received no rain but the sky remained overcast and gale winds raised dust in towns.
AP State Disaster Management Authority said Velanka in Kakinada district received 56.2 mm rainfall, Yeleswaram 48.5 mm, Kotananduru 45.2 mm, Anakapalli and Narsipatnam 44.5 mm each, and L.N. Peta in Srikakulam district 43.2 mm. The report said over 33 places received more than 20 mm rainfall.
The IMD report said thunderstorms will continue over north and south coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and Rayalaseema for the next three days. Thereafter, the temperature will increase by 2–3 degrees Celsius, the report added.
