Thunderstorm Likely Today in Several AP Districts

Several districts likely to receive light to moderate rainfall on Monday

Visakhapatnam: The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) has forecast light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms in several districts on Monday due to a trough extending from the west-central Bay of Bengal to Tamil Nadu across the southwest Bay of Bengal.

APSDMA managing director Prakhar Jain said isolated thunderstorms with rain are likely in Parvathipuram Manyam, Alluri Sitharama Raju, East Godavari, West Godavari, Eluru, Krishna, NTR, Palnadu, Prakasam, Markapuram, Nellore, Nandyal and Tirupati districts.

According to the IMD, Srikakulam, Polavaram, Anakapalli, Kakinada, Konaseema, Guntur, Bapatla and Chittoor districts may receive light rain accompanied by thunder and lightning at isolated places.

The IMD also said conditions are favourable for further advance of the southwest monsoon into more parts of Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar and south Chhattisgarh over the next four to five days.

During the 24 hours ending 8.30 a.m. on Sunday, Raptadu in Anantapur district recorded the highest rainfall of 10.2 cm, followed by Alur in Kurnool district with 9.4 cm, Anantapur 7.5 cm, Holagunda 7.4 cm and Bathalapalli in Sri Sathya Sai district 7.08 cm
