Three Stranded In Kalanuthala Stream Rescued After Overnight Ordeal

The vehicle carrying the three men was swept into the overflowing waters while they were attempting to cross the road. The occupants managed to climb onto a nearby tree and raised an alarm for help

NELLORE: Three men who were stranded atop a tree after their four-wheeler vehicle was swept away by the swollen Kalanuthala stream in Peddaraveedu mandal were rescued by police and fire personnel.

The incident occurred after Krishna waters were released at Gantavanipalli on Monday, causing the stream to run in full spate. The vehicle carrying the three men was swept into the overflowing waters while they were attempting to cross the road. The occupants managed to climb onto a nearby tree and raised an alarm for help.

On receiving the information, police and fire teams rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. Using a proclain vehicle, the personnel reached the stranded men and brought them to safety around 4.30 am.

One of those rescued, T. Srinivasa Rao, is a resident of Kalanuthala, while the other two were his friends from Markapur, police said.

Markapuram MLA Kandula Narayana Reddy stayed at the spot throughout the night and supervised the rescue operation.
