Stop Violence Against Women.
In a shocking incident, three men from different locations allegedly exploited and sexually assaulted a young woman in the name of love and marriage. The crime, involving separate assaults by each accused, came to light after the victim finally approached her family.
The survivor, a Diploma second-year student from the Tadipatri constituency, commuted daily from her hometown to Anantapur city for college. During her routine travel, she became acquainted with three men- an auto driver, a bus acquaintance, and a college contact—who pretended to be caring and trustworthy.
On December 2, auto driver Gurumohan from Paturu allegedly lured her to his house on the pretext of dropping her home and then assaulted her. The next day, he put her on a bus to her hometown.
Frightened and unable to return home, the victim went to Pradeep, a man from Singanamala whom she had earlier met on a bus. Taking advantage of her situation, he took her to his rented room in Tadipatri and assaulted her, claiming he was in love with her. He later put her on a bus to Kadapa.
From Kadapa, the distressed student travelled to Tirupati and contacted Brahmanayudu, a man from Kadiri taluka she had met in college. He took her to his rented room, promised marriage, and allegedly assaulted her repeatedly between December 4 and 7.
The survivor later returned to Tadipatri and took shelter at a friend’s house. Meanwhile, her family filed a missing complaint with the police. After reuniting with her family, she revealed the abuse she had suffered.
Based on her statement, police have registered a POCSO case against all three accused and begun further investigation.
