Preliminary investigation disclosed that the workshop had been using commercial LPG cylinders for welding purposes, which is not advisable and led to the blast.

Visakhapatnam: Three persons died and another three severely injured when an LPG gas cylinder exploded at a scrap and welding workshop near the Visakhapatnam fishing harbour within the One-Town police station limits on Thursday at around 4 p.m.
One of the welders had been joining two metal parts of the frame of a fishing boat when the cylinder burst.
Preliminary investigation disclosed that the workshop had been using commercial LPG cylinders for welding purposes, which is not advisable and led to the blast.
Police have identified the deceased as Ch. Ganesh, Srinivas and Ch. Mutyalu. The critically injured are T. Sanyasi Rao, E. Ranga Rao, and E. Yellaji, who have suffered more than 60 per cent burns and are in KGH. The condition of one of them is critical.
While Ganesh and Srinivas died on the spot, Mutyalu died while undergoing treatment at the KGH. Talking to media, KGH superintendent Vani said their bodies have been shifted to the mortuary.
Eyewitnesses said the blast’s impact was so powerful that workers’ bodies tore and body parts got strewn some meters away. The blast triggered panic in the locality.
Police and fire service personnel retrieved the bodies from the spot.
Officials suspect the cylinder burst as it got exposed to immense heat and high pressure.
One-Town inspector G.D. Babu said they have registered a case of accidental death. They are probing to find out those responsible for the deaths.
