Three Arrested In Chagalamarri Temple Silver Theft

Police recovered 5.80 kg of silver bricks, valued at Rs 14.76 lakh

Anantapur: Chagalamarri police on Sunday arrested three persons, including a temple priest, a retired endowments executive officer and a gold merchant, in connection with the theft of silver ornaments from a temple in Chagalamarri of Nandyal district.

Police said the accused were identified as temple priest Mamidi Krishna Kishor of Gayathri Nagar, Allagadda town; retired Endowments EO B. Venkata Narasaih of Kotakandukur village in Allagadda mandal; and gold merchant D. Pedda Hussainaiah of Lingamdinne village.
According to Allagadda Circle Inspector Ramana, the trio was arrested near the Avadhuta Kasinayana Ashram area. Police recovered 5.80 kg of silver bricks, valued at Rs 14.76 lakh, which were allegedly converted from the stolen ornaments.
The theft was reported a few days ago, following which a case was registered and an investigation launched.
