Textile Shop Catches Fire

Fire personnel rushed to the spot, but by the time they reached, the flames had engulfed the three-storey building, destroying large quantities of clothing stored inside.

KAKINADA: A textile shop located in a three-storey building at Main Rajamahendravaram caught fire on Friday.

According to sources, smoke was first noticed emanating from an air-conditioner inside the shop, which later spread throughout the premises.

Shop staff immediately alerted the fire department.

Fire personnel rushed to the spot, but by the time they reached, the flames had engulfed the three-storey building, destroying large quantities of clothing stored inside.

Fire officials later brought the blaze under control and said a short circuit is suspected to be the cause of the incident.

The estimated loss is pegged at around Rs 1.50 crore by the shop owners.
