Tension Prevails at Undavalli During CRDA Land Acquisition Exercise

The protesting farmers alleged that their lands were being taken over by the CRDA.

Vijayawada:Tension prevailed at Undavalli on Saturday after farmers opposed a land acquisition exercise undertaken by officials of the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA).

According to officials, the CRDA personnel, accompanied by earth-moving machinery, arrived in the area as part of works related to the development of Amaravati. Farmers objected to the exercise, leading to heated arguments between them and police personnel deployed at the site.

The protesting farmers alleged that their lands were being taken over by the CRDA.

YSRC leader Dontireddy Vema Reddy alleged that the government was acquiring farmers’ lands without providing them justice. He claimed that land in the area had been valued at around `5 crore per acre before the Amaravati development project and criticised the government's actions.
