Tension at CK Palli as Former MLA Prakash Reddy Appears Before Cops

CK Palli police registered cases based on available camera footage on several persons, including T Prakash Reddy

Anantapur: A tense situation prevailed at CK Police station in Satya Sai district after former YSRC MLA, T Prakash Reddy of Rapthadu, appeared before the police there on Monday in a case of creation of "ruckus" during the visit of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on April 8 to Papireddypalli in Ramagiri mandal.

During Jagan Reddy's visit, party cadres had rushed close to the helicopter and damaged its window plane. The pilot reportedly expressed his inability to take off with the VIP and returned hurriedly to Bengaluru. Jagan Reddy had to travel by road; and subsequently, the YSRC complained that the police failed to maintain law and order even at the helipad.

The CK Palli police registered a case as huge crowds rushed to the helicopter even before Jagan Reddy could get down. Several among the party cadres pelted stones on police for resisting them.

In the incident, the window pane of the chopper was broken and the pilot refused to fly with VIP.

Jagan Reddy, after visiting Papireddypalli, consoled the family members of the party worker who was killed by rivals and later went to Bengaluru by road.

The police registered cases based on available camera footage on several persons including the party inchrage T Prakash Reddy. However, Prakash Reddy was elusive for the past few days when the police launched a hunt to arrest him but he subsequently got bail from the high court.

On Monday, he was expected to appear before the CK Palli police over the incident. The police have already questioned the pilots of the chopper over the incident, after the YSRC represented to the Centre over security lapses. Huge crowds of YSRC cadres from Rapthadu assembly segment gathered at CK Palli police station in support of Prakash Reddy when he appeared before the police.

Reddy was questioned for a few minutes. The police also issued notices to others in the case under section 41A.
